For The Adventurer In You
Hello all
I had mentioned that I am working with the Source Theatre’s 24/7 Project in which actors and dancers collaborate with playwrights and choreographers to create 10-minute pieces — all written, cast, rehearsed and performed in 24 hours. http://sourcedc.org/sourcefestival/html/24hour.html.
I just got back from the orientation meeting with the other choreographers and playwrights. The playwrights drew their random themes from a hat and will be spending the rest of the night writing a 10 minute play. Here are the possible themes from which a play will emerge:
1. Cost Of Devotion
2. Eat Your Words
3. The Day Mercy Arrived
4. Lost In An Unfriendly Location (I think–I can’t read my writing, so not sure about the last word)
5. The Great Division
6. Love At The End Of The World
7. Reversal In The Pecking Order
Again, the list above is just the theme, the playwright will create the actual title and find a way to interpret the theme. Choreographers get to read the play at 7:00 am. (Heaven help me, I am not a morning person and I don’t drink coffee). Dancers meet the choreographers somewhere between 8 to 10 am. Choreographers will work with dancers till 5:00 pm. And conveniently there is a second show at 9:30 pm for you all to come right after the reception tomorrow. First show is at 7:00 pm–I won’t be there, I’ll be at the reception with all of you. Reception information is at http://www.dakshina.org/2009/06/03/benefit-reception/
So join us at the Source Theater tomorrow if you are feeling adventurous.
I’m quite thrilled about the possibilities. But ask me tomorrow and I may have a different opinion entirely.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Daniel
