Daniel Phoenix Singh is the Artistic Director and President of Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh and Company. Singh's complete bio is online.

Treasurer:

Avi Sahi is a Vice President of Perseus, LLC, a private equity fund based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Perseus, Mr. Sahi worked in the Technology Investment Banking group at SG Cowen & Co., where he helped to build SG Cowen's Alternative Energy Investment Banking Practice by participating in the origination and execution of seven corporate financing transactions for energy technology companies. Previously, Mr. Sahi was a Vice President with G.E. Capital Corporation and a Business Development Manager with Cisco Systems Capital. In addition, Mr. Sahi has worked in the commercial finance departments of J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, and Quest Capital. Mr. Sahi received a B.S. in Finance from Rutgers University and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University. Mr. Sahi has also completed coursework towards an M.A. in Latin American Economics at New York University.

Ananya Bhattacharya is the Business Development Specialist with Training Resources Group. Ananya assists the Business Development Unit in writing proposals, preparing budgets, representing TRG at client meetings and helping maintain client relationships. Prior to joining TRG, in July 2004, Anaya worked in the non-profit sector in Washington DC. Having grown up in India, Ananya first came to the U.S. as a Rotary International Paul Harris scholar to attend the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, NY. .

Debbie Davidson, a recent immigrant to the DC area, holds an MPA from Ohio State. She has worked in state, county and local government, been a federal regulatory analyst with Cincinnati Bell, run for public office twice (unsuccessfully ;-) and consulted with non-profits on assessment and evaluation as the managing director of NonProfit Network, a St. Louis-based firm. She lives with her husband, two kids, two cats and two anvils in Burke, VA.

Mary Lee Eckstein is the Humanities Project Coordinator at Arlington Public Schools, where she coordinates artist performances, lecture/demos, residencies and teacher workshops in over 30 schools. Prior to her appointment at APS, she was the Folk & Traditional Arts Consultant at the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities. In this capacity, she advised traditional artists on grant applications, managed the grant review process, and coordinated the Dance DC Festival. She continues to consult on various folklore projects in the D.C. metro region. She has a Master of Arts degree in folklore from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (her thesis was titled Global Bhangra, Local Bhangra: University Dance Teams in the United States) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Davidson College.

Nancy O'Neill is currently the Director of Programs for the Office of Education and Institutional Renewal at the Association of American Colleges and Universities, where she works primarily with grant-funded initiatives related to diversity, leadership development, and organizational change in higher education. She also has more than 15 years experience as a writer and editor, primarily in education. Outside of work, she has an avid interest in the arts and frequents local theater productions and concerts as well as dance performances. She also makes jewelry and donates earrings and necklaces to Dakshina's silent auctions. Ms. O'Neill received a B.A. from SUNY-Buffalo, and both an M.Ed. in College Student Personnel and an M.A. in American Studies from the University of Maryland. Her areas of interest included student development, diversity, and film studies. She taught Women's Studies at both UMD and SUNY-Buffalo.

Elizabeth (Libby) Smigel -- George Washington University
Libby Smigel, MFA, PhD, teaches dance at the Mount Vernon College campus of George Washington University. She has choreographed, directed productions, and coached performers at colleges, conservatories, Equity shows, and other venues in Toronto, Upstate New York, and Washington. She served as Conference Coordinator for the Dancing in the Millennium conference, held in DC in July 2000 and sponsored by 20 dance organizations. She contributed to studies of the dance communities in San Francisco and Metro DC for Dance/USA and she completed a report on copyrights and access to dance history materials for the Dance Heritage Coalition last May.

Christie Walser is a recent graduate of George Mason University where she earned both a Master’s degree in Public Administration, with honors, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. With thirteen years of experience in tax accounting for nonprofit organizations (most recently in the tax department of Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Washington, DC), Christie brings a wealth of knowledge regarding nonprofit accounting and tax return preparation, as well as current legislative issues concerning tax-exempt organizations. She also stays current on fundraising techniques, marketing, and other nonprofit management issues. As a long-time member of the local theater community, Christie enjoys both onstage and backstage aspects of arts organizations.
