Dakshina’s internship program offers meaningful, on-the-job experience for college juniors, seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates who are interested in beginning careers in arts management or arts education. We focus mainly on dance, but our program experience is easily applicable across the other art forms or non-profits in general. This semester-long, full-time internship offers a wide range of performing arts events and programs that provide a setting for endless career development opportunities. We prefer students who can commit to two semesters. Dakshina also is happy to work with your college or university to help you get college credit and can tailor the internship to meet your course requirements.
During the internship, participants maintain a working portfolio and attend performances and workshops on behalf of Dakshina. Whether the internship is in press, advertising, education, development, or one of the many other areas offered, the experience sets the tone for a future career in arts management. You will also serve as a representative at public meetings and networking events. Finally, you’ll get to work with internationally acclaimed artists in an intimate and meaningful way. We are currently seeking interns in the following areas:
- Press (building relationships and a presence in local printed and online media)
- Advertising (with emphasis in Graphics Design and creating an On-line presence through Social Media such as Facebook and Twitter) Education (with emphasis in outreach through k-12 partnerships)
- Development (with emphasis on corporate connections)
- Technology and Video (with emphasis on using Final Cut Pro to document, edit and manage our video archives). A Technical Production Intern is needed for our shows at Lincoln Theatre the week of Oct 19th and at Baltimore Theater Project the Week of November 14.
