Support Dakshina
Dakshina needs your support to make our Fall Festival of Indian Arts a success. This year, Dakshina will be presenting Srimathi Madhavi Mudgal, Srimathi Leela Samson and Srimathi Allarmel Valli at DC’s Historic Lincoln Theatre. We need your generous support to bring these renowned dancers to the DC area.
Also, earlier in 2009, Dakshina was awarded a prestigious travel grant by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for a tour to India. We received a matching grant of $20,000 and we’re writing to ask for your assistance in reaching the match. Your support will help us present our award winning works along with works of Anna Sokolow, the modern dance pioneer in several cities across India. We need your support today, please give generously.
You can make a critical difference in keeping these award winning cultural programs alive in DC.
Will you please consider taking these three steps today to help us reach our goal?
- Donate today via our secure website: http://www.dakshina.org/
- Ask 5 of your friends to match your donation by telling them about our exciting tour.
- Join our Board of Directors or volunteer with our company.
We need your help in making this tour a success. Email us today at info@dakshina.org if you are able to volunteer a few hours every weekend to help our dance company work on these exciting projects. Currently Dakshina is seeking Board Members who have experience in the following areas: Fundraising, Corporate Relations, South Asian Community Liaison, LGBT Community Liaison, Non-Profit Law, and Accounting. Details about our tour, including the cities we will be visiting will be available in a few weeks. Be sure to check back often for more exciting details on our collaborations in India.
In the News
Did you know that Dakshina is a Finalist in two of the Metro DC Dance Awards? Dakshina’s Dance Place show was nominated for an Outstanding Performance at a small venue and our Lighting Designer Brian Allard is a finalist in the Excellence in Lighting Design category for his beautiful work lighting Anna Sokolow’s historic piece Dreams.
Read the latest review of our performance at Dance Place. Both nights of our shows were sold out, and every standing room ticket was sold out as well.
…impassioned and provocative … Almost 50 years after its debut, Anna Sokolow’s “Dreams” looks as fresh as ever. An intense work that reflects on the atrocities of the Holocaust, it was presented at Dance Place by Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company…
